Author Cards

Hover over a card and click the three-dot menu for quick actions:

ActionDescription

Edit AuthorJump straight to the Edit Details tab
Quick MatchLooks the author up on Amazon, Goodreads, Open Library and Audible in that order, using only results with the author's name. The first match supplies what it has, and later sources fill in anything missing, such as a photo when Amazon has only a biography.

Author Detail Page

Click any author card to open their detail page. There are up to three tabs depending on your permissions.

Author Details

The landing tab shows the author's biography, with links to their Amazon and Audible pages (via their ASIN). Long biographies are collapsed by default and can be expanded. Below the bio, all of the author's books in your library are listed.

Author Details

The book button beside the author's name fetches details from the web, trying Open Library and Goodreads. When the author's books in your library have Goodreads IDs, those are used to find the right person, which avoids mix-ups between authors with the same name. A GoodReads tag links to the author's Goodreads page once they're matched.

Edit Details

Update the author's name, ASIN, biography, and photo. Each field has its own lock toggle so you can protect specific edits from being overwritten during metadata refreshes.

Photo options:

Use Lock All / Unlock All to toggle all field locks at once, or lock them individually.

Search Author

Look up an author online. Enter their name and click Search, or enter their Amazon author ASIN to look them up directly.

Search Author

Trove asks these sources at once and lists what each one finds:

SourceWhat it has
AmazonThe biography and photo from the author's Amazon page, and their ASIN. Uses the Amazon site and cookie from Metadata settings.
GoodreadsThe biography and photo from the author's Goodreads page, and their Goodreads ID.
Open LibraryBiographies and photos for many older and public-domain authors, often with their Amazon and Goodreads IDs too.
AudibleAuthors and narrators of audiobooks. Audible region picks which Audible store to search.

Only sources switched on in Metadata settings are searched. Results are limited to people whose name matches what you typed, so initials work ("L. M. Montgomery" finds "Lucy Maud Montgomery"), and empty duplicate records are left out. A search takes up to half a minute, as each site is asked politely.

Each result shows which source it's from, its IDs, and a preview of the biography. Click Match to copy it into the author's record: the biography, photo and IDs it has. Anything the result doesn't have, such as a biography, is left as it was, and locked fields aren't changed.

Bulk Actions

Select multiple authors using the checkboxes on their cards. You can hold Shift and click to select a range, or use Select All / Deselect All in the footer.

When authors are selected, a footer action bar appears with two options:

ActionDescription
Auto MatchRuns a quick match on all selected authors in sequence, streaming results in real time
DeleteDeletes all selected authors after confirmation
